Eggnog French Toast w/ Bourbon

I’ve made a variation of Baked Eggnog French Toast nearly every Christmas for the past few years. Though, this one seemed a little more special because it symbolized a year of positive change.

How? You might ask.

There were parts of my life that seemed dry and a bit stale. So instead of throwing them out, I whisked together a heaping bowl of sweetness and spice. Poured it over the stale parts, allowed it to soak in and transformed what was into a whole new self. And I have to say…life is now pretty tasty.

Cheers to a Happy New Year!

Recipe Type: Breakfast & Brunch
Serves: 4-6 people
  • 2 cups eggnog
  • ¾ cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. ground nutmeg
  • ½ loaf day old challah bread (I used leftover buns)
Bourbon Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tsp. aged bourbon
  • 1-2 Tbl. milk
  1. In a medium-mixing bowl, whisk the first five ingredients until well combined.
  2. Coat a 9X13 inch pan with cooking spray. Line the pan with the bread. Pour the liquid mixture evenly over the bread. Press gently. Allow the dish to rest for at least 30-45 minutes.
  3. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Bake the French toast for 30-35 minutes or until the egg mixture is set.
  4. For the bourbon glaze, whisk the three ingredients together in a small mixing bowl. Milk might be needed to create a pourable consistency. Pour the glaze over the baked French toast. Serve immediately.
